Touch

'Touch' 60x60cm acrylic on canvas,

Portrait of polyampoppy and dannyfuckingprice, the only couple depicted in this exhibition. We recreated a video that was used as a gorgeous declaration of love between two people. I recognised the hands immediately and thought this was a wonderful expression of the relationship and its component parts which I wanted to mark and recreate. Sometimes think hands are more idiosyncratic and distinctive than faces, the way they gesture, move, search, touch. I wanted to express the feeling of flow, losing one's self in that touch, merging with someone when you join in this way and to imply layered, fluent movement and tactility. It was a privilege to be allowed to reflect on such sincere, affectionate intimacy.
